The prestigious accolade of Most Community Responsible Company was awarded to Coca‑Cola HBC Lithuania during the National Responsible Business awards ceremony in Vilnius.
The award was set up by the Ministry of Social Affairs & Labour for international companies. Our company was recognised for achieving our long-term goals – to create and develop partnerships with communities, helping to meet their needs.
Since 1999, Coca‑Cola HBC Lithuania has been carrying out a community investment programme with a focus on promoting physical activity. As a result of a long-term partnership with the Foundation of Mrs Alma Adamkiene (the former First Lady of Lithuania) we have renovated the sports facilities of eight small rural schools. Now, the sport halls and stadiums serve as a place for exercise not only for schoolchildren but for local communities as well.
In 2014, Coca‑Cola HBC Lithuania established a partnership with the Lithuania Olympic Committee (LOC) – the leading sports organisation in the country. With its support, the Christmas Caravan 2014 held 10 events for local communities where people had an opportunity to meet famous Olympic sportsmen and learn from their example about the benefits of physical activity. What's more, during the events, the government, NGOs and private organisations donated sports equipment to the schools worth more than €43,000 in total. Coca‑Cola HBC Lithuania's donation has been invested in a LOC project to promote winter sports.
The partnership with the Lithuania Olympic Committee aims to provide more opportunities for families and children to be active. To support this, we launched an overarching programme, Wake Your Body, and four projects – The Team Winter Challenge, Olympic Day, Move Week and Christmas Caravan. With a target to get 35,000 people in Lithuania moving during 2015, the programme saw more than 67,000 people taking part.
